Whilst reviewing the collection generated this week I came to the realization that they were all too orange. Referring back to my sketchbook I could see that I have used tones of pinks, greys, and caramels but only in nominal amounts. To broaden my collection I need to add more of these colours to my palette. I have started to bring this through, but I want to add upon this.
Likewise I feel that there needs to be a greater variance of techniques and yarns, I plan to integrate drop stitch work with Mohair, Lycra combining different weights of yarn to increase diversity.
I want to bring more texture to my samples, to make them seem increasingly delicate resembling naturally occurring decay and its reactions, adding these elements more distinctively into my work.
After researching where my work fits within the fashion industry for this unit, I established that it is a more conceptual fashion style. Similar to the materials and their decay I am trying to represent, my work is transient, forever changing and developing, realizing it can’t and shouldn’t last forever, it needs to decay and develop.
Nonetheless I have pieces that are more suitable to longevity. I found that my work is similar to that of Balenciaga AW/13-14 as we both have a conceptual piece in collections. My work also relates to Helen Lawrence’s AW/15 collection, I found that we have used techniques which are akin to each other thereby creating comparable effects to our knit.
