Over Growth.

With the two tutor critiques in mind, I want to push my practice forward focusing on a different element of my concept, ‘Natural Reaction’, investigating ‘Overgrowth’, using my visual research as a starting point. I don’t want to focus too much on the darker colours as I find it can be overbearing with its undistinguishable shades, I intend looking beyond this into what ’overgrowth’ means in different senses. Dealing in the detail of overgrown areas of nature, focusing on the positive side of ‘natural reactions’, having previously focused on the negative effect of decay. The research and imagery I have accomplished has been very influential up to this point. For example, 2 images translating the nature of overgrowth that is so unruly it engulfs its surroundings. This is something that intrigues me; something I want to explore further exploring how best I can express it. Although overgrowth may initially give a negative impression my research shows in fact that overgrowth can be full of charming features too, such as the wild flowers which can be found, as seen in my images, I have discovered details like this can be lost in the word ‘Overgrown’.  This is something I want to explore more.

From my visual research I have deciphered a softer, more faultless appearance this is something I want to drive forward to further explore in my sketchbook. Thus influencing my generating process, helping my sampling and garments to have higher end quality to them.
By using media which can bring softer effects to my work to represent delicateness, gaining a subtleness to my drawings, so when I begin to sample I can symbolize the delicate elements we generally disregard within overgrowth, detailing what is to be found.

The drawings in my sketchbook are softer in colour; pale pinks, purples and greys, by adding minimalistic amounts of sharper colours to balance out the colour palette emphasizing a delicate side, whilst retaining definition to the drawings.
